First, Know your Subjects:

  • Butterflies can’t cross state lines with people, so  get a permit or go native.
  • Pick species that share a natural habitat, one you can duplicate in your exhibit.
  • Food for adults - keep the menu nutritious for butterflies, and palatable for visitors.
  • Food for larvae - can you get the kind of plants they need? Can you get enough? Can you get more?
